It was like a miracle for Chrissy Teigen when she revealed last year that she and her husband, John Legend, were expecting their first child together. The big announcement had come just weeks after Teigen revealed on “FABLife” that she had been experiencing fertility issues for years and was struggling with the pressure to become a mom. So when she finally announced she was pregnant via in vitro fertilization, her fans jumped for joy. And the excitement continued when Teigen revealed that she and Legend were expecting a baby girl. Now, Teigen is opening up again about her pregnancy and sharing details about how and why she chose the sex of her baby.

According to media reports, Teigen, who is expected to give birth this spring, recently spoke about her new cookbook, Cravings, as well as her decision to choose having a daughter.

“I’ve made this decision,” Teigen said. “Not only am I having a girl, but I picked the girl from her little embryo. I picked her and was like, ‘Let’s put in the girl.’”

Teigen says that she decided to have a little girl because she wanted Legend to experience being a father to a daughter, which she explains would benefit him well.

“I think I was most excited and allured by the fact that John would be the best father to a little girl. That excited me,” she explained. “It excited me to see … just the thought of seeing him with a little girl. I think he deserves a little girl. I think he deserves that bond.”

However, Teigen explained that she still has plans for her and Legend to have other kids.

“A boy will come along. We’ll get there too, so it’s not like we really have to pick. But he definitely is very lucky to have a little girl. And this girl is going to be so completely lucky to have John as her papa — it’s crazy!” Teigen said.

But that isn’t all Teigen had to say about Legend and the baby. Read the rest of her comments after the cut.
