Kim Kardashian was a in a firestorm of drama and controversy last week when a nude selfie that she posted of herself somehow went from a mundane post to garnering criticism from other celebrities and igniting a national conversation about female empowerment and self-love versus body-shaming and slut-shaming. Much to our surprise, not only was Kim K vocal in her defense of the photo, but her former enemy, Amber Rose, also came to her defense. Now, Rose is opening up about the incident and explaining why she chose to her support Kardashian.
As previously reported, after Kim posted the year-old selfie of herself standing naked in her bathroom, celebs like Piers Morgan, Chloe Grace Moretz, Better Midler, and Pink criticized Kim, claiming that she was exploiting her own body and that she was a bad influence on other women and young girls.
However, Rose decided to clap back at Pink in Kim’s defense, telling the pop megastar in an Instagram post, “Pink we were all born naked, society sexualizes our breast and bodies. If a grown mother of 2 is comfortable with her body and wants to show it off that’s none of our business or anyone else [sic]. Now, if u wanna talk to kids and be a mentor to young teens, tell them to go to school and to not use their bodies to get ahead?! I’m all for it! But, please as a grown woman let another grown woman live as she wishes. That’s our problem! We’re so quick to down each other instead of uplifting,”
Recently, Rose spoke to the press at SXSW and explained why she was compelled to come to Kim’s defense, as well as why there was so much publicity around her speaking up for the reality TV star.
“I feel that people make a big deal out of it because it’s me and Kim, but I really would’ve did it for anybody. I’m not just a feminist when someone is super famous, I’m a feminist every single day of my life. That’s my passion, that’s what I do. I thought it was f—– up and I felt like I needed to say something regardless of our past. The fact that I dated her husband five years ago, six years ago — which is so irrelevant right now. But it really does not matter. You just have to do what’s right. And I did,” Rose said.
But that’s not all that Rose had to say on the matter. Read why she felt it was OK to defend Kim despite her recent online beef with Kardashian’s husband, Kanye West, after the cut.
