Police have arrested a Detroit woman who was caught on video during a violent altercation. The event occurred at a Detroit gas station. Although there is no sound from the security camera, witnesses have stated that the people in the vehicles were having a heated argument. The woman is then seen going to a blue Dodge Charger and putting something in her panties returning to a Pontiac Grand Prix. Seconds later, she pulls the gun from underneath her skirt and fires into the vehicle, hitting the driver multiple times.
The scene is soon filled with chaos as the female shooter continues to fire and the driver runs over another person. A member of the group in the car being attacked was able to wrestle the shooter to the ground and get the gun away from her. All parties then get back into their cars and speed away from the scene.
Police were alerted and quickly on the scene as part of a surveillance partnership called Project Green Light that feeds high definition video footage directly to Detroit Police headquarters from eight high crime areas in the city. The victim of the shooting was identified and survived the attack. Police were able to get a good video image of the attacker, who was described as a 20-year-old black female, 5’2′, and with corn rows or braids in her hair.
According to Police Chief James Craig, authorities were able to arrest the shooter within two hours of the incident after a person recognized her on TV and called police. Police combed the area where she lived and were able to track her down a mile from her home. According to police, the suspect was fleeing the city because of the unwanted attention on the news. Her name has not yet been released by police and she remains in custody.
