Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas seemed to be fighting tooth and nail last year to save their marriage from falling apart amid the weight of their demanding work schedules and a scandalous viral video of Thomas inappropriately touching another woman at his bar. When season eight of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” wrapped a couple of weeks ago, Thomas and Bailey’s marriage seemed to be in a much better place as they showered each other with affection on camera. But it looks like the time for peace and TLC is already over with because Bailey recently revealed that her marriage is in trouble again.
According to media reports, Bailey spoke about the state of her marriage in a recent radio interview and she explained that part of the problem for her marriage is that she and Thomas tied the knot after signing on to “RHOA.” Looking back, Bailey says it might have been a major mistake to have let her marriage be wrapped up in her reality TV life.
“We’ve been married five years. We’ve been together for eight. We’re the only couple on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ that was actually married on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta.’ We’ve never been married outside of the show, and I don’t think that has helped us a lot,” she said. “Maybe if we were married three years before we got on the show, that would’ve been better. I just have nothing to compare my marriage to outside of being on the show. It’s just been difficult. I mean, the wedding was difficult. Everything about our marriage has been difficult.”
In preview clips for upcoming episodes of the reunion special, which was filmed a month ago, fans can see host Andy Cohen ask Bailey and Thomas about how much time they spend together these days. Although we don’t see their response in the clip, Cohen can be seen responding that it seems like they’re separated.
With so much time apart and so many issues plaguing their marriage, Bailey admits that she’s not even sure anymore if she and Thomas will even stay married.
“I never said that we were perfect. I don’t know what’s gonna happen. I usually have all the answers for all the questions, but when it comes to my marriage, I just don’t know right now,” she said. “I just know that it’s not good right now.”
With so many marital problems, it’s likely that Bailey and Thomas will be asked back for the next season of “RHOA” so they can air their issues out for the world to see. However, we’re not sure that their marriage can survive another year of public scrutiny and intense work schedules. At this rate, Bailey and Thomas may need to choose between their reality TV lives and their marriage.
