Cynthia Bailey responds to rumors that she and her husband Peter Thomas are headed for splittsville.
In case you missed it, the couple is considering filing for separation after being married for five years, reported TMZ earlier this week. In fact, the reality stars are said to be living under separate roofs. Of course, it’s no secret to fans that Cynthia and Peter’s relationship has never been a smooth road, as they’ve played out a number of difficult marriage moments for Bravo cameras.
Then there was the 48-year-old’s confession, when she stopped by Reality Checked with Amy Phillips on Sirius XM. “I will say that Peter [and I] are not in a great place right now. Honestly, I don’t know what’s going to happen with us right now, we’re still trying to figure it out. But, you know, it’s complicated,” Bailey said of her relationship.
“We’ve been married five years, we’ve been together for eight. We’re the only couple on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ that actually was married on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta.’ We’ve never been married outside of the show, and I don’t think that it’s helped us a lot…Maybe if we were married three years before we went on the show, that would have been better. I just have nothing to compare my marriage to outside of the show, and you know it’s just been difficult—I mean, the wedding was difficult, everything about our marriage has been difficult.”
Now, Bailey admits she’s decided to put her marital woes aside and focus on the important things. “I am spending time with my daughter, and taking some time for myself,” the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star, told UsWeekly. “Whatever the future holds for my marriage, I have given over to God. I appreciate everyone’s kind words and prayers,’ she added.
According to an UsWeekly source, the tumultuous union has really hit a low point. “It’s been a lot of problems over the years and it’s just gotten worse,'” the source said. “You’ve seen it all play out on the show. She’s just over it.”
