Dark Man X lit up the stage at B.B. King Blues Club and Grill in New York, NY on Sunday. In between rapping his hits such as “Where the Hood At, “Party Up (Up in Here)” and “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem,” DMX spoke to the crowd in a fashion not uncommon for the sometimes troubled, yet always spiritual rapper. But due to his performance falling on Easter Sunday, he spoke to his fans in a sermon-like manner and quoted some bible verses.

Several times, X shouted out “Flesh of my flesh!” The nearly sold-out crowd would shout back, “Blood of my blood!” Together, the phrase makes up the tile of his second album, which was released in 1998 and went triple platinum.

Sweating profusely, the 45-year-old eventually took off his shirt, exposing his tatted up chest and sagging pants. Though he was visibly tired, he pushed forward, finishing up the set with one of his most emotional songs, “Slippin’.”

By the end of the show, many were obviously just happy to not only hear some of their favorite DMX songs, but also see first-hand that while the rapper may stumble at times, he will not allow his tribulations stop him from giving his long-time fans his all.
