A tragic story has come out of Kenner, Louisiana, near New Orleans where police discovered the  bodies  of a couple who had been shot multiple times. When police responded to the scene of the murder, they discovered that the couple’s newborn baby girl was lying between them unharmed. Scott’s body was in the bed, and Kimbrough’s on the floor.

Police have stated that Dawn Ellen Scott, 28, and her boyfriend, Raynell Kimbrough, 31, were shot sometime before 7 a.m. Monday morning. Scott’s other children, ages 10 and 2, were also found unharmed in the home. The incident took place at 2144 Idaho Avenue in Kenner.

Lt. Brian McGregor of the Kenner Police Department said they were treating the deaths as a double homicide. The 10-year-old child heard the gunshots and ran to the bedroom where he saw his mother covered in blood. The child then went to a neighbor’s house and told them something was wrong; the neighbor then called police.

Dawn Ellen Scott was an overnight associate at Walmart and Raynell Kimbrough was a warehouse worker. The couple was believed to have been in a relationship for the past year. The families of the victims were shocked and devastated by the news of the killings and watched in sadness as police processed the crime scene. Raynell Kimbrough’s two sisters stated that the victims were a loving couple and that their brother was a “wonderful dad “ and a “wonderful brother.” A sister identified as Natacha Kimbrough stated, “I’m speechless. It’s still unbelievable. I’m trying to figure out what happened.“

Police have not determined a motive for the murders and are looking for a gold colored vehicle, possibly a Ford Taurus, seen leaving the area immediately after the shooting. Police are now canvassing the area looking for clues and additional witnesses who may have seen the vehicle or individuals associated with the crime.
