Phaedra Parks may be a high-profile defense attorney, but she went from defending clients to defending her reputation over the past few years after her incarcerated husband, Apollo Nida, was convicted of fraud and identity theft. But even before his conviction, rumors were circulating about Nida’s criminal activity, as well as Parks alleged involvement, thanks to a tell-all book from a former associate named Angela Stanton. Now, Parks is finally going to try and silence the rumors once and for all as reports reveal that she’s taking Stanton to court over the infamous book.
As previously reported, Stanton published the book, Lies of a Real Housewife: Tell The Truth & Shame The Devil in 2012 and in the book she alleged that Parks and Nida were involved in forgery, theft and racketeering and brought her into their world of crime before abandoning her once she was arrested. Stanton also alleged that Parks was the real ring leader of this “criminal enterprise” and that Parks even had a secret “girlfriend” and was into “freaky” sex.
“Phaedra was this crooked attorney who knew how to commit crimes against the federal government. She also knew how to get away. Phaedra Parks had studied the law extensively, and learned how to manipulate the cracks in the system,” wrote Stanton.
At the time, Parks filed a defamation lawsuit against Stanton, while Stanton filed a countersuit. Parks tried to have Stanton’s counterclaims dismissed, but was denied multiple times, most recently in March.
According to media reports, Parks has one more chance on April 20 to try to dismiss Stanton’s counterclaims. However, if Parks request is denied again, the case will go to trial the very next day at 9:30 a.m. in Georgia.
Neither Parks nor Stanton has commented on the latest case update, but if this case does go to trial, we can expect an explosive court battle between the two ladies.
