Nicki Minaj’s family was hit with some devastating news in January when it was revealed that the rap star’s older brother, Jelani Maraj, had been arrested and charged with raping a young girl. Since then, Minaj’s family has chosen to remain silent on the matter, but now they’re back in the news as headlines have revealed that Maraj has now been indicted in the case.

As previously reported, Maraj was arrested on a first-degree rape charge for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl. Very little info was given about the alleged crime, except that child was someone that Maraj allegedly had access to.

Maraj showed up to his first day in a Nassau County courthouse in Mineola, New York, with his mother, Carol Maraj, and his lawyer, Andrea Zellan, by his side and reports claimed that Carol was the one who posted the $100K bail to get Maraj released.

Although the family hoped that the charges would be dropped against Maraj, new reports have revealed that a grand jury deliberated on the case for a month and decided on April 4 to indict Maraj on multiple charges of sexual misconduct.

The full list of charges includes felony predatory sexual assault against a child, along with felony sexual conduct against a child under age 13, sexual conduct against a child and endangering the welfare of a child.

The reports claim that Maraj is facing 15 years behind bars for the first charge alone and if he’s convicted of all four charges, he could spend the next few decades of his life in a prison facility.

Like before, few details have been revealed about the case and since the Maraj family is keeping quiet and the case involves a young minor, we doubt that the Internet will be flooded with details about the case.

But considering how highly Minaj has spoken of her brother, it’s safe to assume that she’s devastated by the news of his indictment.
