The list of Prince TV tributes continues to grow in the wake of the revolutionary artist’s sudden death on Thursday, April 20.
In recent news, “Saturday Night Live” is paying musical tribute to the 57-year-old this weekend, with a retrospective called “SNL: Goodnight Sweet Prince.” According to THR, the clip show will feature some of the Purple One’s most memorable performances.
The Purple Rain star was most recently a musical guest in 2014, when he played an extended medley – a move never before seen on the late-night show. Years prior, he made an appearance in 2006, and again in 1989, for “SNL’s” 15th anniversary special where he performed “Electric Chair” from the Batman soundtrack.
“SNL Goodnight Sweet Prince” will air tomorrow night at 11:30 p.m.
Prince was a true gentleman, a king among men. He was as sharp and as talented as they come. I’m so glad I was lucky enough to work with him

Meanwhile, Fox has announced that “New Girl” will also pay tribute to the “Kiss” singer by replaying his post-Super Bowl episode titled “Prince,” on Tuesday, April 26. Playing himself in the episode, the Grammy winner invites Jess (Zoey Deschanel) and Cece (Hannah Simone) to a party. Of course, the episode wouldn’t be complete without a performance by the superstar, who went on to sing “FALLINLOVE2NITE” from the 2015 album Hit n Run Phase One.

The cast and creator Liz Meriwether were among those who honored Prince via social media, following the news of his passing. “Prince was a true gentleman, a king among men. He was as sharp and as talented as they come. I’m so glad I was lucky enough to work with him,” tweeted Deschanel.
Since the news broke of the singer’s death, many music channels, including BET, VH1, and MTV have lined up hours of coverage paying homage to the icon including lost footage, music videos and his Purple Rain blockbuster.
