Marlon Wayans is headed to NBC.

NBC has ordered a Marlon Wayans’ family comedy “Marlon,” reports Variety. Although the network has struggled with comedies in the past, they hope to gain some traction with one of Hollywood’s most sought out comedians.

“Loosely inspired by the real life of star Marlon Wayans, this update to the classic family comedy centers on a loving Marlon — season pilot (but immature) father committed to co-parenting his two kids with his very-together ex-wife. While his misguided fatherly advice, unstoppable larger-than-life personality and unpredictable Internet superstardom might get in the way sometimes, for Marlon family really always does come first — even if he’s the biggest kid of all,” reports Deadline.

Starring alongside loving immature father Wayans is ex-wife, Essence Atkins (“Smart Guy”), Notlim Taylor (“Disney’s My Princess Makeover”), Amir O’Neil (White Water), Bresha Webb (“Grey’s Anatomy”) and Diallo Riddle (“Late Night With Jimmy Fallon”). Christopher Moynihan serves as writer and will executive produce with Wayans, Rick Alvarez, Michael Rotenberg and pilot director Andy Ackerman.

In 1990, the comedy veteran rose to fame with an African American-focused sketch comedy show, “In Living Color.” The series provided a platform for many members of the ensemble cast, David Alan Grier, Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx, among others. Several years after the series wrapped in 1994, Wayans went on to star in the cartoon series “Waynehead,” “Mr. Show with Bob and David,” and “The Wayans Bros.”

Most recently, the 43-year-old serves as executive producer and host of “Funniest Wins,” a competition TV show where contestants are picked from every genre of comical entertainment — including the Vine, YouTube, skit and stand-up comedy. Each week, the least funny contestant is sent home. In the end, “Funniest Wins.”

Meanwhile, “Marlon” has yet to receive a premiere date. Stay tuned.
