Gabrielle Union is a style icon and has found herself on many best dressed lists for quite some time. She’s graced red carpets and slayed on her own, and alongside her basketball superstar husband, Dwyane Wade, for years. However, BET’s “Being Mary Jane” star is now planning to take on the fashion world in another lane.

Union and business partner Faith Rein Haslem, wife of Udonis Haslem (Wade’s former teammate) have major plans to step into the fashion in an unconventional way. In an industry dominated by the opposite gender, they plan to open a concept sneaker shop for women. And who says women can’t be stylish in sneakers, anyway? Not Gabrielle! How often do you see women’s sneakers given half the space in shops, if they are even included at all. The fact that an entire store will be dedicated to ladies that like to casually slay in their kicks is something to look forward to. The initial store will be based in Miami, but hopefully, it will spread to other major cities across the country.

Haslem recently spoke with The Coveteur and had this to say:

“Gabrielle Union and I are working on a women’s shoe store. It’s in the very early works, but we’re definitely taking steps in planning. Baby steps, but that’s definitely the goal. It’s going to be a concept store/women’s sneaker store, but with a fashion angle. It’s not necessarily about having Jordans per se, it’s going to be more the fashiony thing. I think nice sneakers are a mainstay at this point. Our goal is to have a nice selection. Miami is ready for that, I think. The name for the store is, tentatively, ‘Borrowed From the Boys.’ I don’t know when this is going to happen, but I’ll keep you updated.”
