Actress Mia Farrow is well known for opening her heart and home to children that she fosters and adopts. One child she adopted, Soon-Yi Previn, was having an illicit affair with her then husband, famed director Woody Allen, which led to a scandalous divorce. Now word comes that her adopted son Thaddeus Wilk Farrow, 27, has been killed in a car accident.
Thaddeus was disabled and was adopted from an orphanage in Calcutta, India, in 1994 at age 12. He suffered from polio and used a wheelchair and crutches. Connecticut state troopers responded to a car accident in Roxbury, Connecticut on Wednesday. They discovered Thaddeus gravely injured and he was transported to Danbury Hospital where he died from his injuries around 2:30 pm. A cause of death was not released but police are stating there was no criminal suspect.
Farrow also suffers from polio and led a global campaign to rid the world of the disease through her charitable work. She lost the ability to walk and breathe on her own at age nine and spent three weeks in a hospital’s isolation unit. When asked about her charitable work, she stated in a previous interview given to media, “I perhaps am more motivated than most people because I had polio myself and it was a real struggle to come through it, and what I saw will never leave me – in the hospitals and in the public wards for contagious diseases.”
Farrow, 79, has adopted 10 children and has four biological children. Thaddeus is the third adopted child of Farrow who has died at a young age. She lost Tam Farrow due to heart failure in 2000 and then Lark Previn died in 2008.
