A teenage girl, 14, who was raped by her brother nearly bled to death after being beaten by family members who caused an abortion The girl’s sister, who was 12 at the time, testified about the horrific incident before a jury in Dallas.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the 12-year-old girl was forced by their aunt, Sharon Jones, to hold her teenage sister’s ankles as she was being beaten for hours. After the 14-year-old girl finally gave birth to a stillborn, blood filled the bathroom and the tub, which had to be drained. The young girl also said she had to wash her sister because she was losing consciousness. The postpartum hemorrhage could have caused her death. However, the girl lived to tell her traumatic story.
It all began three years ago when she was left at home with her brother, Robert Cayald. The girl, who was a virgin at the time, was asleep when Cayald climbed on top of her and sexually assaulted her. Following the attack, she soon discovered that she was pregnant. When she told her brother and other family members about her pregnancy, they all conspired to force an abortion. The girl’s cousin, Cecila McDonald, told her husband, Lonnell McDonald, to do whatever it took to force the teenage girl to have an abortion. The girl told authorities that she was initially given plan-B pills and other pills to force a miscarriage. Eventually, Lonnell stomped on her stomach and beat her for hours until her water broke. When the girl gave birth to a stillborn, her family attempted to burn the stillborn on a grill. But when that didn’t work, the family gave Cedric Jones $25 to get rid of the baby. Authorities still haven’t found the baby’s remains.
The girl and her five other siblings moved to Texas from California after the death of their grandmother. She was initially required to stay with another relative and live separate from her brother, Robert. However, the person she was initially staying with lied to child services and the girl lived with Cecila McDonald instead.
Lonnell McDonald, 28, faces 99 years in prison and the girl’s cousins Cecila McDonald, 27, Cedric Jones, 28, and aunt Sharon Jones, 46, have been charged with conspiracy to commit capital murder.
