Arrests  have been made in the beating of a White high school student who supported the Blue Lives Matter movement. Last month, Sylacauga High School student Brian Ogle, 17, suffered serious head injuries in an attack that was motivated, police say, by his social media postings on behalf of police officers. He responded to critics of his stance, which prompted four recent students to attack him on September 30, 2016.

Police are stating that Quartez Walker, 20, Bobby Brown, 19, Noah Grant Ealy, Jr., 18 and Daveon Nix, 20, were responsible for the assault.

Daveon Nix is the son of a recently elected Sylacauga, Alabama councilwoman, who was in the news recently for her comments on parental responsibility. Councilwoman Tiffany Nix stated last week before the arrests that “If we’re upholding them in their wrongdoings, then we are as much to blame as they are. Let’s lead by example, let’s be kind to one another, let’s lend a hand to our neighbors no matter what color they are, let’s stand together and show our children that we love them enough to put our petty differences aside.”

All four Black teens have been charged with assault and police are stating that the attack may have been racially motivated. The victim’s mother, Brandi Allen, stated to media recently, “I’m happy. I’m relieved that four have been arrested, but I’m not happy with the amount of the bond and the charges. They should have been charged with attempted murder, by all means. They’ll probably be out on bail tonight.”

According to Allen, her son is still recovering from the vicious beating. His prospects are good and the family is thankful.

The suspects in the beating have bonds ranging from $15Kto $20K.
