Though Tyler Perry hasn’t had a chance to congratulate his friend, Janet Jackson, on being pregnant with her first child, he’s “looking forward to it,” reports ET.

“She’s just always been so extremely private and is laying low, and I just wish her all the best,” Perry recently told ET’s Denny Directo. “I’m excited for her because I know what that means.”

As previously reported, the R&B superstar announced she’s expecting her first child with husband Wissam Al Mana, just two weeks shy of her 50th birthday, in May. “I thought it was important that you be the first to know,” Jackson said in a brief Twitter video. “My husband [Wissam Al Mana] and I are planning our family.”

Practically a new papa himself, Perry, who welcomed his first child with partner Gelila Bekele in 2014, admitted he’s short on supply with advice for Jackson. “There’s nothing people can tell you to prepare for it. It is what it is,” Perry explained. “I think that is going to give her a sense of fulfillment that she’s never had before.”

Last we caught up with Perry, the media mogul gushed over his latest film, Boo! A Madea Halloween, and delivered some key advice for those trying to break into the industry. “I don’t know about other people, but for me, I needed a lot of prayers, a lot of faith and a lot of work ethic. You gotta just work and work and work and work. And those were the three things for me that I would suggest. I know they worked for me and they can work for other people,” Perry told rolling out during a pre-screening tour stop at the Royal Oak Emagine Theater in Royal Oak, Michigan, on Oct. 5.

“I tell people this all the time, they get mad when I say it, but if you give up, maybe you don’t deserve it. So, keep going. No matter how tough it gets, no matter how hard it gets. Don’t stop. Because there were many, many times when I wanted to stop but had I stopped, then I wouldn’t be here now,” Perry continued, advising aspiring artists or entrepreneurs to never give up, a formula that has proven successful for the Hollywood veteran.
