I’d like to think there’s a special place in hell for people like Robert Alan Davidson of Rockville, Maryland. While I’m no judge and jury, few people would dispute the sentence. This scumbag father recently pleaded guilty to sexually abusing and killing his daughter Aleah Thompson. As if the case couldn’t get any worse, little Aleah was just 10 weeks old when her short life was brought to a sad and painful end last June.

On June 25, Davidson called 911 reporting that his daughter was not breathing. He later told police that he’d been playing video games in the living room of the apartment he shared with Aleah’s mother, Lorena Thompson, 22, who was at work. He heard a noise coming from his daughter’s bedroom and later found her unconscious. He claimed to have dropped the infant several times.

When Thompson returned from work, the two tried to perform CPR on Aleah, but she did not respond. Three days later, she died at the hospital. According to the Washington Post, an autopsy revealed that the baby had a broken collarbone and 34 rib fractures, injuries likely suffered over several incidents.

While Davidson pleaded guilty, his attorney, Ronald Gottlieb, continues to dispute allegations of sexual abuse, saying Davidson was only “trying to remove mucus and other substances” from Aleah. In court, Gottlieb said, “He never admitted to doing it for a sexual gratification, but the actual act itself he has admitted to.”

While prosecutors dropped Davidson’s second-degree murder charge as part of the plea deal, if found guilty, Davidson could spend up to 50 years behind bars for his crimes.

Though prosecutors didn’t believe Thompson had a hand in Aleah’s death, she was charged with neglect of a minor, as she never reported the child’s injuries. She was being held on an $800K bond.
