Sylvia Jordan lost her son Jared to cancer when he was only 31 years young, and while she was in the midst of planning her second annual Ultimate Women’s Event in metro Detroit. She was devastated, distraught, and didn’t know what her next move was going to be. However, Jordan realized her personal circumstances fully aligned with the premise of the conference: overcoming obstacles to live your dreams, and ultimately, that’s what she set out to do.  “I decided to move forward with the event, not just because of the money already invested and the time commitment from myself and all the speakers and team involved, but also because this is what we have to do, push forward in spite of,” Jordan says.

This upcoming weekend, Jordan is set to host the second annual Ultimate Women’s Event 2017 in metro Detroit, along with a host of powerful women who are set to pack a powerful punch with their messages of inspiration, empowerment and becoming equipped. Jordan is a powerful woman herself, and shares a message of her “great journey” with everyone she meets. She was a city councilwoman for over 17 years, even making a run for Southfield, Michigan’s mayoral seat. She’s a pastor’s wife, an author of more than five books and has developed three products. Faith, community empowerment and business embody the crux of who she is, always encouraging people to believe in themselves and to passionately pursue their dreams. And she has found a way to bring all of her passions together to offer the UWE2017 at the Novi Sheraton Hotel, 21111 Haggerty Road, Novi, Michigan, on Friday, Jan. 27, 6 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.), and Saturday, Jan. 28, 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Headlining this event are approximately 16 well-known women experts and entrepreneurs, including Jewel Tankard of Bravo Television Network’s television show “The Tankards”; Leigh Valentine, QVC television host, and creator of the Non-Surgical Face Lift Kit, and Grammy-nominated artist, Kim Stratton. Jordan’s daughter, Lauren Hicks, designer and founder of Michigan Fashion Week, is also set to be a speaker.
