Drake found himself in the doghouse after a video surfaced of him telling a concertgoer near the stage to remove her hijab, the media reported at the time.
“You got on that hot a– scarf right there, you might wanna take this off,” Drake told the woman. “You gotta turn this muthaf—- up… you gotta come out of that s—.”
Though some fans believed the woman was wearing a hijab (as opposed to a scarf), the since-deleted video of the incident did not conclusively confirm the reports.
Meanwhile, in response to the backlash, on Friday, Feb. 10, the Canadian-born rapper released a statement on Instagram clarifying the situation.

According to the 30-year-old, the comment was directed at a group of four women at his O2 show, “one of whom was wearing a jacket and a winter scarf.”
“I made a comment about taking off the scarf because I really enjoy a friendly banter with the fans,” Drake continued of the event which took place on Jan. 30. “I am well aware of what a hijab is and I would never make a disrespectful comment like that in my life towards someone who is wearing one.”
In other words, Drizzy says it’s all fake news. What are your thoughts on the incident?
