Actress Sanai Victoria was one of the celebrity kids we spotted at the Girls Who Brunch awards gala hosted by author Zane this past weekend in Atlanta. She caught my eye because I knew I saw this cutie pie somewhere else recently; then it hit me that she was the little girl who played opposite Nia Long in the Lifetime movie Beaches, a remake. After speaking to Sanai, I discovered she’s a superstar child actress who has appeared in over 10 TV series and feature film projects and she’s in Atlanta shooting for Tyler Perry’s new spin off from “House of Payne” titled “The Paynes” for OWN.

I was happy to see that in addition to making big moves, she understands the importance of giving back. The Girls Who Brunch gala is a 501c non profit who brought  in over 80 girls by bus from different cities like Charlotte and Las Vegas. The girls all reside in shelters or group homes. They were brought to the event to experience a weekend of pampering, awards, and celebrations.

N’icola Mitchell, founder of the Girls Who Brunch Tour and owner of NCM Books Publishing, is an established author who took her dream of helping young girls see a better way of living and what life has to offer to make this happen. With the help of a few friends and organizations, Mitchell was able to bring her vision to fruition.

The night’s theme was Tutu’s and Tennis Shoes at La Bam studios and there were plenty of tutus floating around the room. After the ceremony, there were live performances by the MAKO Girls, Shanya, Neyo’s Grammy Award-winning songwriter sister Nikki, and a poem by Hank Stewart titled “IT.” The girls went home with the book Letters to a Queen by author King Jay Barnett.

We asked Sanai Victoria why she felt it was important to support such an awesome event. She said, “I believe that Girls Who Brunch is an amazing organization because it shows at-risk girls a better life, and shows them how they are beautiful and if they’re strong, have hope, carry themselves like a lady and educate themselves, they can change the pattern in their lives and be independent and successful.”

We were able to get Sanai into the rolling out office the day after the event.

Please check out her interview, after the break.
