When Buick introduced its Cascada last year, it was the brand’s first convertible in 25 years. This writer first laid eyes on the luxury coupe during a Super Bowl 50 “Experience the New Buick” commercial. I test drove a couple of Buicks, a Regal and an Enclave, prior, during a local drive-for-a-day campaign hosted by Jim Ellis Buick GMC Atlanta, so I was ready to try the Cascada. Angelo, the sales rep, apprised me of what would be in store.
The “little red Cascada” (in my Prince voice), with the heat-reflective perforated leather seats was the perfect accessory for the final days of summer. Featuring premium red stitching in the black leather interior, the 2017 Buick Cascada loaner made all the men come to the curb to check out this eye-catching flaxen-haired driver with keys to one of the hottest convertibles on the road. All were howling, “What a beauty!” “What are you driving?” and “Is that a Buick?”
I guess word hadn’t quite gotten all the way around that Buick has set a new standard (sleek and stylish), while providing luxury, comfort and affordability. How did these onlookers miss New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and the bridesmaid who “totally Odell’d” the wedding bouquet during the commercial?
One thing is for sure. Buick doesn’t buck tradition. You can rest assured you will get the expected comfort. And, they didn’t compromise on all the modern tech offerings, including the built-in 4G Wi-Fi hotspot; the myBuick app, which, allows you to lock, unlock, and remotely start your vehicle; the Buick IntelliLink infotainment system for playing your favorite music and making hands-free calls; and navigation.
