A father in Frackville, Pa. hated his 20-year-old daughter’s boyfriend so much that he decided to shoot him. According to the Miami Herald, Donald Jenkins, 40, had an issue with his daughter dating a guy and took action.
Jenkins’ daughter wanted to spend the weekend with her boyfriend and decided to book a room at Motel 6. Jenkins discovered that his daughter was planning a romantic getaway at the motel and showed up to disrupt the couple’s private time.
At some point, Jenkins barged into the room where he saw his daughter lying on the bed with her boyfriend. Jenkins soon began yelling at her daughter’s boyfriend and the two got into an argument. The argument eventually turned violent.
Jenkins pulled out a gun and aimed at her boyfriend, hitting him in the groin and the upper thigh area. The victim was bleeding and on the floor when a housekeeper discovered him. Jenkins soon fled the scene.
The incident can serve as a teaching tool for parents. While it’s important to protect and give children advice, violence should never be the first option. Jenkins put himself and his daughter’s life in danger during the shooting. Furthermore, he could possibly miss on opportunities to provide for his family if he’s forced to spend years behind bars. Jenkins faces charges that include attempted homicide, aggravated assault, burglary.
The victim has been treated at Geisinger Medical Center.
