A 10-year-old boy described a horrific scene of sexual abuse that allegedly occurred between Nicki Minaj’s 34-year-old brother and the young boy’s then-11-year-old sister.
According to the New York Post‘s Page Six, the boy took the stand in the courtroom at the Nassau County Supreme Court to share what he witnessed in his home. Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj, married the boy’s mother and soon began to abuse his sister. Maraj has been charged with raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter at least four times per week.
During the trial, the boy, whose room was next to his sister’s, revealed that he initially began to hear his sister’s bed creaking at night. He did not understand why her bed was creaking at night. The boy told jurors that he actually witnessed the abuse on one occasion when he decided to look for his sister. His pencil broke while doing homework and he needed to get another one from his sister.
But when he walked downstairs, he noticed something that he described as “weird.” The boy said that his sister’s panties were at her ankles and Maraj’s underwear was near his knees. He ran upstairs after witnessing the abuse.
Following the abuse, the boy said that Maraj threatened him and slapped him 10 times in the face. He said that Maraj told him that he would never see his mother again if he told anyone.
The defense attempted to discredit the boy by asking him if the room was dark. The boy replied, “Yes.”
However, a medical examiner also testified that the girl’s medical records revealed that she had been penetrated. Also, Maraj’s DNA was found on the girl’s pajama pants.
Maraj claims that his ex-wife is seeking to extort $25M from him and his sister, Nicki Minaj. Nicki Minaj will testify on her brother’s behalf.
The child’s testimony painted a sickening picture of Maraj. It also reveals how parents must always monitor the activities of their children when they are around adults. It’s important for parents to speak with their kids to discover if any abuse has taken place. They should also feel safe and confident in communicating what they’re experiencing on a daily basis.
Maraj has been charged with first-degree rape and sexual misconduct against a child.
