A couple of weeks ago, most fans were shocked by the news that Terry Crews, a former star in the National Football League who still has the physique of a champion bodybuilder, could possibly be sexually harassed.
But this goes beyond the physical. The Hollywood heavyweight who groped Crews right in front of his wife and then smiled at the Next Friday actor, was using his powerful position in the movie business to intimidate Crews into silence and inaction. Everyone who has ever gazed at Crews, a star of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” knows that he would mop the floor with the average man with limited fighting skills. However, because this agent can effectively stall, or even destroy, Crews’ career with just a few phone calls, this agent was unconcerned about any violent repercussions from Crews for his sexual indiscretion.
Well, now we know that the agent with the wandering hand hand has been idenfiied – and he is actually being subjected to ramifications for his alleged actions by being placed on leave until such time as an investigation has been completed.
Adam Venit is part of the motion pictures department at the William Morris Endeavor talent agency. He has been placed on leave while Crews’ allegations are investigated.
Venit is well known in the industry and wields considerable clout as he’s representing big-name celebrities like Emma Stone, Eddie Murphy, and interestingly, Dustin Hoffman and Brett Ratner. Hoffman and Ratner are two other men who have been accused of sexual assault or harassment.
Crews decided to go public with his episode of sexual harassment, without identifying the man who assaulted him, when the Harvey Weinstein sex scandal first broke. Weinstein is accused of sexually harassing and/or raping some of the biggest and most accomplished female stars in Hollywood over the course of several decades.
Crews, for his part, stated that the reports of Weinstein were traumatic for him.
“Why?” he asked, “Because this kind of thing happened to ME,” he tweeted, before describing how a “high level Hollywood executive” groped his “privates” at a party.
“Jumping back I said What are you doing?! My wife saw everything n we looked at him like he was crazy. He just grinned like a jerk,” Crews wrote on Twitter.
“He called me the next day with an apology but never really explained why he did what he did,” Crews went on.
