When this writer received the invite to the Buick Regal GS stunt driving school experience, I must have been the first to register. Who could say no to this plug? The automaker’s PR team had me at:

This is the perfect getaway car – in more ways than one – and we want to help you experience it in the most fun ways possible. First, there’s the getaway car: a 310-hp modern sports sedan with Intelligent AWD with active twin-clutch, Brembo brakes, 19-inch wheels and massaging sport seats. You’ll get a chance to drive the Regal GS through maneuvers on a closed course channeling your inner stunt driver. Then there’s the part of the car that helps you get away from it all. Every Buick is designed to be a peaceful getaway from your daily working life, quiet and comfortable.

Sold!

While I’m a girlie-girl, my alter ego is a badass who refused to pass up this experience. And, stunt school bragging rights would land right on the top shelf adjacent to privileges to flaunt that I have a motorcycle license. The daredevil training was held at the exclusive Atlanta Motorsports Park, located in the North Georgia mountains and the driving circuits were designed by a Formula One architect.

Hot of the assembly line, this opportunity was unique, as it was the first drive for the 2018 Buick Regal GS. It’s Black Panther season and my stunt instructor was actress Delmar Reyna, who’s the only female stunt driver in the film’s CIA agent scene. She’s next up in the Shaft reboot. I was in great company on a rainy day, which would otherwise have me running for cover.

Don’t be fooled by this sedan. The 2018 Buick Regal GS, short for grand sport, has the same spirit of the 20th Century muscle cars. A purposeful performer, it rivals its predecessors like the 1965 Buick Riviera GS and the 1965 Skylark GS, which debuted during the heart of the muscle car era. A quiet performing machine, it’s safe, durable, refined and upscale. And, it’s attainable luxury.

According to the automaker, the all-new Regal GS comes standard with the smooth, robust power and torque of a large-displacement V6 engine that delivers an exhilarating 310 HP. It’s paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission that’s electronically controlled for quick and seamless shifts.

Price: Starts at $39,990 with destination charge.
