The use of a common slang term led to a Black man being jailed in New Orleans. Arthur Posey, 30, revealed his biological need to take a bowel movement while at Willie’s Chicken Shack on Canal Street on the night of Nov. 13, 2018, and trouble ensued, according to the Times-Picayune.

Posey allegedly told a manager at the restaurant that he was about to “blow the bathroom up” shortly after walking inside. However, the police questioned the manager, who told a different story. The manager claimed that Posey walked inside the restaurant and asked what time they closed. The manager said that she did not know, and Posey responded by saying, “Y’all about to close right now because I’m going to get a bomb and blow this place up.”

The manager called the police and reported a bomb threat. When police arrived, they found Posey walking into another store, wearing a green hat, blue jacket and blue pants and carrying a white plastic bag. When they questioned him about the bomb threat, he said he was referring to his bowel movement. The police did not buy Posey’s explanation and arrested him.

Posey faces two counts of communicating of false information of a planned arson. He will face a mental competency hearing on Nov. 29.
