Who has been your most memorable celebrity client and why?
There are so many amazing celebrities I’ve worked with that it’s so hard to choose. If I had to pick one right now, I’d have to say it’s Cardi B. I worked with her when she was on TV, but before her musical fame. To see someone as humble and supportive as she was, blew my mind. Her advertising and marketing were so genuine because she truly believes in me, as I did her. … not to mention she has a fabulous figure and a great personality.
What was it like working with Mary J. Blige on tour?
One day Wayman and Micah called my office requesting a meeting with me to go over MJB and her Essence Festival and her performances. I had dressed her before through another stylist, but this call was different. To work with legendary stylists such as Wayman and Micah, creating and bringing visions to life for an icon like Mary, was big for me.
What advice do you have for up-and-coming designers?
Advice for upcoming designers … stay creative. Don’t always follow trends, create your own trends. Learn the business before getting into the fashion industry – and don’t give up.
