Entrepreneur Danyel Surrency Jones shares her superpowers as a Black woman

What thoughtful piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

I would tell my younger self, never compromise your worth and learn to value the thing you fear the most.

Why is it important for experienced Black women to reach back and help younger women of color?

It’s so important for seasoned Black women to reach back and help the younger generation because knowledge and our ecosystem will always be our power. When we mature as women to share our mistakes and contacts, the community and the mission will win.

What are three success habits you implement into your daily routine to maintain your success, sanity and peace of mind?

1. Accept nothing less than excellence from your team and yourself. Not perfection but excellence.

2. Wake up every day focused on one goal that you must accomplish in order to feel good about the day. Don’t let the list defeat you.

3. Know when to periodically fast on the kryptonite that pulls you away from activating your superpowers.

As a successful woman, what is your proudest achievement?

Building something from nothing is one of my most proud achievements. I have never appreciated and connected more with the journey of our ancestors until I lit my entrepreneurial passion. Being in a position where you don’t have the answers and don’t have all the resources at your fingertips but you allow the vision of something greater than you to pull you forward is powerful. It’s a force that my children get to witness, my community gets to engage in and a force that will live in the fabric of my legacy.
