“See I’m tied up and begging for a hit of your love … ” – JPENNELOPE

Authentic artistry is what you experience when you hear JPENNELOPE. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll, lead singer, Tarshá (pronounced Tar-Shay) “Pennie Mac” Hamilton, describes her band as “… everything that rock ‘n’ roll represents.

We’re not just one way,” she explained. “People tend to think rock ‘n’ roll means ‘White,’ but it’s so much more. Rock ‘n’ roll is a fusion of it all: blues, jazz, gospel, country, R&B and soul.”

The band started as a duo comprised of Hamilton and her first cousin, James Blaque, in 2011. Eventually, their family affair grew with the addition of two brothers, Jarriel and André Willis. Hamilton, who has sung professionally for almost 20 years, also sings background vocals for Fantasia. Her first tour ever was with her ex-husband, Anthony Hamilton.

Fans liken the energy in her soul-piercing vocals to the legendary Tina Turner. “When people hear us, they hear classic rock ‘n’ roll,” Hamilton said. “We’re taking you back to those days of Ike and Tina Turner.”

Similar to Ike and Tina, JPENNELOPE is versed in ballads that reflect real life. Their latest single, “Love & War,” is a bluesy ode to addictive love.
