Sean “Diddy” Combs may have ascended in the world of hip-hop as a producer, but he is much more than that.
Prior to introducing classic records that catapulted him and future stars such as Mary J. Blige and Jodeci to superstardom, he was a promoter and marketing genius who threw legendary college parties.
That trek clearly led to one of the most successful music imprints in the industry, Bad Boy Records, before his talent director days at Uptown, and he eventually assumed his rightful role of entrepreneur with multiple business ventures that include Ciroc vodka, Justin’s restaurant, the reality TV show “Making the Band,” Sean John clothing and a host of others.
As Combs has navigated his way in and out of various ventures, either related to music or not, his identity has morphed just the same, from “Puff Daddy,” to “Puffy,” “P Diddy” and eventually his current moniker, “Diddy.”
Yet again, the 49-year-old New York mogul is contemplating a new name change, as US Weekly is reporting he has filed a petition with the Los Angeles Supreme Court to legally become Sean Love Combs versus Sean John Combs.
It all started off as a joke in 2017 when Combs posted on Twitter that he would no longer answer to anything other than Love or Brother Love.
