Former NFL player Stevie Baggs Jr. explores the conscious mind in his new book

What inspired you to write the book?

Honestly, I wanted to tell the story about my personal evolution.

Who are you trying to reach with the book?

It’s definitely for the person who is already aware because the more you know, the more you know what you don’t know. That’s wisdom. Secondly, it’s for the person who is seeking more truth. For the person who is ready to dig deeper. No matter where you’re at, this book can plant a seed to help one think differently. That’s my goal: to help our people think differently.

When you say “our people,” who are you speaking about? Is being “woke” only for one race, or are you speaking about all people?

I’m so glad you asked that. Someone before asked me if I was a Black activist. I asked that brother to please not insult me. I’m not Black. When you say the word black but take the B off, it’s lack.  I don’t lack s—.  I am a melanated brother.  I’m not a Black activist, I’m a spiritual activist. It’s a lot of people that suffer from STDs — spiritually transmitted diseases — and I’m here to give them a cure.

Where can we find your book?
