Your grandmother had an impressive music career. What was it like being around her while you were growing up?
I had no clue until I was older. I was about 16 and someone randomly asked me if I understood what [my] grandmother [had] done. I’m like, “No, she’s my grandma, and I love her.” I didn’t think about anything like that. It just was normal for me to see certain things that we saw and be around certain people that we were around. So, I honestly didn’t understand what either of my grandparents had accomplished.
Are you releasing an EP with the new single?
Definitely, and it’s really dope. The title of the EP hasn’t been released yet, but it will be dropping very soon. It’s just good music. It’s honestly the music that you want to listen to when you don’t want to be sad anymore. It’s the type of music that you’re going to listen to when you want to feel hyped. Feeling good is the theme of my life at the moment, so I wanted to put that into my music as well.
