The point of the Drive-In Concert Series is to create a compelling live musical environment that is safe during the current pandemic. Fans found an outlet to channel their pent up frustrations and anxiety due to being quarantined in their homes for the past six months. The ideas for the Drive-In Concert Series and Jokes & Jams were developed by businessmen Ryan Hill, Caleb James, SirRyan May, Steven Beecham and Leo Bennett while Kathy Taylor of TellAll Inc. handled the backstage traffic and media PR.
The Drive-In “Versus” battle turned out to be one long salute to hip-hop that tilted the axis of the genre toward the Dirty South in the late 1990s — and where it has mostly remained ever since.
