Entrepreneur Adonica Shaw encourages ‘intention setting’ to achieve success

What tools and processes do you use to find peace?

The process I rely on the most to help me manifest peace into my life is the practice of “intention setting and reciting affirmations.” I do this at least once a month, but if I’m feeling emotionally or spiritually depleted, I’ll do it more frequently. By setting intentions, I can make sure my daily actions are in alignment with my long-term goals, and by affirming words or phrases that are uplifting to myself, I get the benefit of having mini “pep-talks” with myself. This practice helps me reclaim my power and my peace when I feel like I’ve given it away or it has been taken. Since I’ve started this practice, I feel far more grounded.

What are some of the things you do to help you renew your mind, body and soul?

I believe the best way to renew your mind, body and soul, is to watch what you expose it to. Fixing my diet and using intermittent fasting, have been game-changers for me. When I overhauled my diet with more nutrient-rich whole foods and added things like collagen and spirulina to my daily meals, I felt more balanced, both emotionally and physically.

What is your favorite song or book that brings you peace and purpose?

My go-to song is definitely “Closer to My Dreams,” by Goapele. My go-to book is The Universe Has Your Back, by Gabrielle Bernstein.
