Rapper NBA YoungBoy, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant issued by the U.S. Department of Justice, was arrested yet again on Monday afternoon, March 22, 2021, in suburban Los Angeles after attempting to flee authorities, an FBI spokesperson has confirmed.
It has not yet been revealed if YoungBoy, born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, was wanted in connection to his arrest along with 15 others during a video shoot in September 2020 in his Baton Rouge, Louisiana, hometown.
The Los Angeles Police Department, which was assisting the FBI, attempted to pull over YoungBoy, 21, but the rapper refused to stop and led the LAPD on a short chase, CBS Los Angeles reports. He finally stopped his unidentified car and tried to run from authorities, hiding out for several hours in Tarzana, California, a 25-mile drive northwest of LA near Calabasas. The LAPD dispatched drug-sniffing dogs to flush him out of hiding at about 1 a.m. Monday.
YoungBoy was taken into custody without incident, according to multiple media outlets late Monday afternoon. He is currently being held in a Los Angeles County facility and scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, March 23.
Officers were able to recover a gun in the car but have not disclosed if the emcee was in legal possession of the firearm.
According to The Shade Room, the exact reason for the arrest has been sealed for the time being. However, some of his children’s mothers spoke up in defense of the embattled lyricist.
This one came from the IG story account of YaYa Mayweather, the daughter of boxing luminary Floyd Mayweather, who is the mother of one of the 21-year-old’s seven children.
Another one was posted on the Instagram account of Jazlyn Mychelle shortly after Youngboy’s arrest announcement.
A third was posted with an attitude by Jania Meshell.
