Black culture and fatherhood celebrated with ‘Concrete Cowboy’ (exclusive clip)

Still, the undeniable highlight of the film is the presence of the Fletcher Street stables, a group of black horsemen that have used horses as a way to connect with and ultimately rehabilitate youth for the last 100 years.  The film is a unique example of art imitating life as the mission of the Fletcher Street stables is to teach leadership and accountability through caring and training horses.

Whether you watch for the star power of Idris Elba, the bravado of Method Man, the youthful genius of Caleb McLaughlin, or the expert interaction of the Fletcher Street horsemen, Concrete Cowboy is guaranteed to introduce a new audience to a subculture that is alive and thriving. The movie also pays homage to a group of Black ancestors whose stories have never been told.

“Concrete Cowboy” premiered Friday, April 2 on Netflix.
