Tennis Champion Venus Williams is arguably one of the most accomplished and inspiring women in the history of sports. Her accomplishments include seven Grand Slam titles, five Wimbledon championships and four Olympic gold medals. In addition to being a champion on the court, she’s also a champion off the court, including being an entrepreneur, a health and wellness advocate and most recently, becoming an ambassador for the WELL Health-Safety Seal campaign, a third-party verification that confirms the safety of a building.
We recently spoke with Williams about her collaboration with the International WELL Building Institute and how she practiced self-care during the pandemic.
Let’s talk about your collaboration with the International WELL Building Institute in raising awareness of their WELL Health Safety Rating: a third-party verification to confirm the safety of a building.
I’m very excited to partner with Delos in the areas of clean interior air quality. My whole life has been about optimal wellness so that I can be my best self on the court. The WELL Health Safety Seal is a commitment to all. It was implemented to ensure the air quality of interior’s, especially right now when we’re trying to get back to the things we love, such as concerts or just having a meal with our families indoors. I’m so excited that nearly two billion square feet are enrolled around the world, including some really iconic buildings, such as Albert Hall in London, The Empire State Building and Yankee Stadium, so I’m very excited to partner with Delos on this.
What was life like for you living during the pandemic? How did you practice self-care?
Practicing self-care is extremely important. I was able practice self-care through my Coach Venus Instagram live workouts. It helped me to stay motivated and it was fun. I started them at the beginning of the pandemic, but I’m sure you can still find my workouts online if you search #CoachVenus.
What is your confidence level that we will see some sense of normalcy this year, as it pertains to a post-pandemic world?
The difference will be the confidence that people will have when they see that WELL Health-Safety rating. When people enter stadiums or venues, they’ll have the confidence that they’ll be safe and healthy and they can get back to their lives.
The ad campaign includes the likes of Lady Gaga, J-Lo, Michael B. Jordan, Robert DeNiro, Deepak Chopra and more. Click the next page to view their video on what the WELL Health-Safety Seal is and why it’s important.
