Melody Holt rises stronger from heartbreak and drama

Balancing work and motherhood is difficult, but balancing both while dealing with a very public divorce is almost impossible. Yet “Love & Marriage: Huntsville” star Melody S. Holt continues to defy the odds in the manner our forever first lady Michelle Obama prescribed, “when they go low, we go high.”

Previous seasons of OWN’s reality series, “Love & Marriage: Huntsville” have played out like a soap opera with Holt’s troubled marriage consistently delivering drama to keep the blogs popping. The storyline included an ex-husband with a surprise lovechild and a tight-knit group of gossipy friends scattering to choose sides on the Holt split. The franchise diva acknowledged the breakdown of her marriage was difficult, but she refused to fold. Instead, she focused on her children, disentangling her business from her ex-husband and rediscovering herself.


Although many women have reached out to her in support with their own stories of heartbreak, infidelity and abandonment, Holt says her divorce didn’t leave her bitter or angry.

“I realize I am blessed to have this platform to be able to encourage and motivate others, but it was important to me to stay focused on positivity because that’s who I’ve always been,” she said. “I am blessed in so many other ways, I don’t have time to be bitter or sad. When I shared the testimony of knowing when God says it’s time to go that was real for me. When you leave a situation that he’s truly released you from, the result is a feeling of peace.”
