Ebony Austin, female business owner of Nouveau Bar & Grill in historical College Park, received the surprise of a lifetime. It was a dream of the serial entrepreneur to one day move to Atlanta to open up her very own restaurant. Well her dream became a reality in 2019 — four months before a worldwide pandemic would shut down all restaurants for a total of six weeks.
Though it seemed like timing was not on her side — fast forward to July 25, 2021 — Austin was proud to announce the grand opening of her second restaurant location in Jonesboro, GA “Nouveau at Broad Street.” This new business opening is part of the “Broad Street Project,” an initiative to bring businesses back to downtown Jonesboro as part of a regentrification & revitalization plan.
“I’ve done some online homework on you, Ms. Ebony Austin. I found a lot of good stuff and I was very impressed with the work I’ve seen you have done for the community,” exclaimed Mayor Joy B. Day.
After the Ribbon Cutting ceremony at the Grand Opening, Mayor Day didn’t hesitate to approach the stage to not only present Ebony with a proclamation from the City of Jonesboro; she also announced that July 25 would officially be “Ebony Austin Day.”
Caught totally by surprise, the multi-restaurant owner tearfully gave the most humble acceptance speech, thanking the mayor, her restaurant team, PR, marketing, Opium restaurant consulting team and her family for their constant love and support.
Rap artist, reality star and Streetz 94.5 radio host Yung Joc proceeded with the event as the host MC of the night, saluting Austin for the amazing food and new restaurant venue, formerly a firehouse.
Nouveau at Broad Street in Jonesboro is a great place for hosting your next special event, whether it’s an anniversary, bridal shower, or just a girls’ night out.
The Mimosa Jam Sunday brunch will continue at both locations every week after its official open date of Aug. 9, 2021. Visit the website for updates — www.nouveaubar.com. Check out the photos after the break.
