Rap impresario T.I. is the latest A-list celebrity to come to Lizzo’s defense after she was bombarded by racist and body-shaming insults on her social media accounts recently.
The 40-year-old Grand Hustle boss filmed a video for his 14 million Instagram followers where he metaphorically threw a comforting arm around the proudly full-figured singer.
“My message to Lizzo. I don’t know Lizzo personally. Listen, sweetheart, you are beautiful, you are talented, you are good enough for all the great things the world has to offer, don’t wait on nobody out there in the public to validate that,” Tip said. “Their perception of you has more to do with them than it does with you. All these people who out here who have negative things to say it’s because they feel negatively about themselves.”
The man born Clifford J. Harris Jr. explained to Lizzo and fans that the injurious references to the Grammy-winning singer as a “mammie” are more a reflection of themselves than her.
“Them speaking negatively about you, or me or everybody else bruh, that has more to do with them than it does to do with you,” T.I. continued. “Please don’t wait on them to give you the OKto be happy, please don’t wait on them to give you the OK to be satisfied about yourself, your accomplishments, your achievements.”
Tip then finished his stream of consciousness by telling Lizzo how to handle her critics’ vicious putdowns.
“F— them people. F— what people say,” he continued. “They should have no jurisdiction or no hold on your life.”
