Pioneering Black stuntwoman Janeshia Adams-Ginyard gets Emmy nod

So what would you tell someone, that looks like us, about getting into acting or stunt work?
When people reach out to me, I always ask them, what do they want, what’s the motivation? There needs to be a passion, where you feel like you’re operating on your purpose because that’s going to sustain you at the end of the day. If you’re trying to be in any industry, whether it’s acting or stunts, you have to become a student of the sport. Find a martial arts class, fight class, and acting classes. If you put in the work, your skills are going to speak for themself and opportunities will come your way and if you take all of that in faith, and you add it to the work you’re really putting in, that’s a no-brainer.

Your portfolio is very impressive, was there any project that you were starstruck by?
Black Panther, was one of those moments like, wow, all my hard work has paid off because Marvel had been on my vision board for some years. I knew it was going to be a good movie but it exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds. I did not realize it would have that deep pop culture impact, that type of impact on the world, and to know that I was a part of it and you saw Black women in positions of authority looking strong and fierce, in all shapes and sizes, that was powerful and meaningful.
