Gabrielle Union talks about deep pain from D-Wade getting a woman pregnant

Union continues: “To say I was devastated is to pick a word on a low shelf for convenience. There are people — strangers I will never meet — who have been upset that I have not previously talked about that trauma. I have not had words, and even after untold amounts of therapy, I am not sure I have them now.”

Because she is a celebrity due to her acting career and beauty, and even more so by proxy as the wife of an NBA legend, folks have erroneously believed that Union has long lived the fairytale, carefree, jet-setting lifestyle as a woman of means. Her memoirs, including the 2017 bestseller We’re Going to Need More Wine, was jarring to fans who thought she lived a relatively unscathed existence. But it is her fans whom she hopes to help with her journey her pain and recovery.

“A lot of us feel like we are drowning in plain sight and people are walking by us holding life preservers, watching us drown,” Union told the hosts of “Good Morning America.” “With this book, I want to say, ‘I see you. Here’s a life preserver. We can, together, save ourselves.’ ”
