Pastor Dwight Buckner found himself in the spotlight following his appearance on Lifetime’s wildly popular reality experiment, “Married at First Sight.”  Pastor Dwight, along with being a full-time minister of the gospel, is also a respected life coach and author.

In Pastor Dwight’s latest book, 5 Things Every Man Needs … And Every Woman Should Know About Men, he provides relationship advice in a practical way and answers some of the biggest, most pressing questions women have about men.

Pastor Dwight offered a few tips on how his new book can be a game-changer in your relationship. Also tune in Thursday, Dec. 9, on www.rollingout.com to hear the full conversation on rolling out’s “Meet the Author.”

In what way is your book a game-changer in regards to relationships?
Well, I think all couples need … to understand each other better. This book was really written to help women and men, particularly women, to understand the mindset of men and how men think. For men, this should be nothing but affirmation to them, acknowledgment of who they are. But for women it’s a little more detailed, to get them into the insight and into the brains of men. I think it’s definitely a game-changer because there are some very practical tools within this book that can be used to understand your man even better. Wherever you are in life, this book will speak to you so that’s why I believe it’s definitely a game-changer.

What did you learn from writing this book?
I learned that God can put something in your spirit and it can literally go from being just an idea to actually manifesting itself in just months. I wrote a book before this book, but … 5 Things Every Man Needs, was the first book that I really pushed harder. So what I learned was that I could do it and it didn’t take long. I also learned that if there’s something that is significant, to you, something that you hold dear to your heart, write about it, you could potentially help so many people.

What should readers and audiences expect from the book?
For the female, I think one of the greatest takeaways is that she should be able to understand her boyfriend, fiancé, or husband. The mind of him will be a lot more clearer and also she will be able to provide for him better and to help him become the best man that he could be.

When did you know God called you to be a minister of the gospel?
I was, 12 or 13 years old when I first got the call. But I actually preached my first sermon when I was 19 years old. From 19 to now I slowly kept walking further and further into ministry. I am a seventh-generation pastor so I tried to run. My father was a pastor, my grandmother was a pastor, my great grandparents [were pastors].
