WNBA’s Chennedy Carter wants to become a star in LA with Liz Cambage

“I think [being misunderstood] comes from the way I play on the court. I wouldn’t say like a [Russell] Westbrook, but I’ll say I focus a little bit more on an efficient level.”

This off-season, she’s worked out with Minnesota Lynx forward Angel McCoughtry, a top 25 player in league history, who’s played the majority of her career in Atlanta. Carter said McCoughtry has become a mentor of hers and also revealed McCoughtry was the one who brought up the possibility of a trade to Los Angeles to her.

“We’re on the phone talking and she was like, ‘How do you feel about LA?’ ” Carter said. “Before she could even get the ‘A’ out, I was literally like ‘yes!’ Los Angeles is somewhere I was always wanted to live. I traveled there in the off-season. It was one of the places I went when I wasn’t playing, to the beach, to the courts just relaxing my mind. That’s how it went down.”

While Carter’s press conference happened before superstar center Liz Cambage signed with the team, Carter was asked about how a hypothetical superstar big would work with her.

“It’s really going to be unstoppable,” Carter said. “I can’t even explain it to you, man. It’s like Shaq and Kobe. It’s a combination where you have to really pick and choose and really be on your p’s and q’s … if I get that five, it’s definitely going to be trouble.”
