An NBA center is donating his entire 2021-22 salary for a cause in honor of his father.

Phoenix Suns center Bismack Biyombo has decided to donate his $1,366,392 season salary to help build a hospital in his home country in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“When I’m set on something … especially something like this, nobody’s changing my mind,” Biyombo told CBS News.

The center told the outlet there was a doctor for only one out of every 10,000 citizens in the Congo. On Aug. 13, 2021, Biyombo announced the death of his father, who died of COVID-19, via social media.

“We will strive every day to be the man our dad was and will forever live in his footsteps making him proud,” Biyombo’s post read.

His social media tributes continued on the day he laid his father to rest.

“People called you president, and I was here to make sure you left like one,” Biyombo’s post read. “So let us finish this painting for you!”

The 11-year NBA veteran’s Instagram feed is full of reflections on his philanthropic efforts and selfies with his family mixed in with the typical NBA tunnel and in-game pictures.

The NBA awarded Biyombo with the March NBA Cares Community Assist Award.
