As the midterm elections get underway, gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams continues to make history in the state of Georgia by sharing how she would address different policies. She recently held a virtual conversation with Oprah Winfrey to address her plans for the state.

Spice House in Midtown Atlanta hosted the watch party for the talk with the two powerful women and invited everyone to get excited to go to the polls and vote. The dress code was tea party attire, and many women came out in their Sunday best replete with fancy hats. The event coordinator, Tammy Hill from Events of Atlanta, shared her thoughts on the importance of this occasion, and why people should go out and vote.

“O-M-G, it’s so needed. First off, I’m in love with Stacey Abrams. She is a very intelligent Black woman and not only does she have great political values and views, but she is also trying to instill them in all of our young women. This is just a great opportunity to grow as women,” Hill expressed.

During the live interview, Abrams was able to share with Oprah why she wears the color purple.

“Purple represents both the color of energy and the mixing of red and blue. We are the best when we are melding together the greatest ideas of everyone,” Abrams explained.

“I want to serve you, whether you like me or not. Our mission statement is One Georgia. No matter who you are, no matter who you vote for, I want to be your governor. Being a leader means supporting the entire state, not just Democrats or Republicans.”

Winfrey and Abrams ended the interview by encouraging everyone to get out and vote while wearing purple to the polls.
