The presiding judge who sentenced disgraced producer Tory Lanez to 10 years in prison has indicated that some time will be knocked off.
In December 2022, Lanez was found guilty by a Los Angeles County jury of shooting rap superstar Megan Thee Stallion during a drunken melee in the summer of 2020.
On Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023, the judge explained why Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, will only serve about nine of the 10 years he was slapped with, according to legal correspondent Meghann Cuniff.
“Lanez will be credited for 231 days he’s already spent in jail. He gets 15 percent credit of 34 days,” Cuniff wrote. “Herriford also is crediting his 40 days of house arrest, for a total of 305 days. He’ll request bail pending appeal, which will be heard Aug. 15. (Extremely unlikely to be granted).”

In addition to the sentence reduction, Deputy D.A. Kathy Ta posted her sentiments regarding Megan The Stallion’s strength and courage amid enormous pressure.
“I cannot emphasize enough the power that it must’ve taken someone with that level of trauma that she’s undergone and the willingness to come forward after being vilified online.”
