TV personality Jeannie Mai informed her fans that she is taking a moratorium from the spotlight in order to bandage her emotional wounds caused by her estranged husband’s divorce filing.
Rap impresario Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins shocked pop culture in September 2023 when he filed to dissolve his marriage to Mai in a Fulton County courthouse in Atlanta after just two years.
Mai told her three million Instagram followers that, in the aftermath of this revelation, she plans to cordon herself off from the world for an indefinite period of time while she presumably tries to reconcile her marriage to Jeezy.
“Sometimes, you need to take a break and disconnect to heal,” Mai wrote and then uploaded the photo to her IG account.
Mai and Jeezy married in March 2021 amid great fanfare and soon welcomed their daughter Monaco in January 2022.
When Jeezy filed for divorce, he stated that the marriage was “irretrievably broken” with “no hope for reconciliation” and that they are “currently living in a bona fide state of separation.”
The couple have not revealed specifics of what precipitated the separation. But the divorce proceedings came just a week after Mai proudly lauded her husband’s memoir, Adversity for Sale, which became a New York Times bestseller.
