On the heels of squashing his long running beef with fellow Atlanta rapper, T.I., Gucci is making the rounds to promote his new album, Breath of Fresh Air, and letting it be known that he is set on showing his progression as a man, husband and father. He recently sat down with “Streetz Atlanta” and talked about his approach to the album.
“This time when I dropped this album, I kind of like wanted to wait Oct. 17 for my album … I ain’t dropped an album in like, two, three years,” Gucci said. “I just been focusing on my label. But, I was like, I want to put out an album to be a time capsule of where I’m at in my life right now, so I can look back at it 10 years from now. I was like, basically, I’ma roll this album out, and this gon’ be the discography of Gucci in 2023, with my little girl, and my boy. So now when I look back 10 years from now, I say okay, this where I was at.”
He went on to give insight on the motivation behind the new music.
“These the songs I made, this what was on my mind, and that’s where I was with Breath of Fresh Air, like take your time. Enjoy your family and just express that instead of like, talking about — not even the same stuff I talk about — but the same stuff I hear people talk about. Show people you can talk about other things, you know what I’m saying? It’s cool to have a family. It’s cool to have dinner at home.”
Gucci Mane’s new album, Breath Of Fresh Air, is 24 songs long and features guest appearances from 21 Savage, J. Cole, Kodak Black, Lil Baby, and the late Young Dolph among others. It’s available now on all digital streaming platforms.
