The former business associate of “The Breakfast Club” co-host DJ Envy has finally spoken up, both in defense of and against Envy, in the alleged Ponzi real estate scheme that got him arrested.
Cesar Pina used Instagram Live to explain that while he claims DJ Envy — whose real name is Raashaun Casey — had nothing to do with the FBI case, he also said that the longtime radio show host is not a “victim.”
“You have all these people being coerced to sue people affiliated with me just because they are a bigger name,” Pina said. “That’s the situation that breaks my heart. In all these lawsuits, these 20 lawsuits, DJ Envy was never in the room with me. DJ Envy has nothing to do with any of these 20 lawsuits of these people that are suing me.”
Pina continued, “It f—ing sucks, bro. It p—— me off that all these people are bashing DJ Envy. … What you gotta understand is, DJ Envy is so successful in hip-hop, as far as a DJ, that people just don’t like him.”
On Tuesday (Oct. 24), Cesar Pina broke his silence about his arrest and the investigation into his house-flipping business with DJ Envy. According to Pina, Envy is innocent of any wrongdoing.

Still, Pina was not having DJ Envy’s sob story that he’s trying to sell the public that he also lost a half-million through an investment deal that he’s never gotten returned.
“I understand DJ Envy’s attorney, his defense to DJ Envy is a victim. That’s the dumbest s— I ever heard in my life,” Pina added. “Me and him were partners in the real estate seminars. We are partners in a couple of real estate transactions. That’s it. He’s not a victim. He was my partner. He was an investor.”
As it stands, Pina was arrested by the feds and charged with one count of wire fraud. He was released on a million-dollar bond, given an ankle monitor, and order to not leave the state of New Jersey until the trial. DJ Envy has not been charged with a crime and is reportedly cooperating with the Justice Department.

I just got off the phone with DJ Envy's lawyer, Massimo D'Angelo, who says Envy is one of Cesar Pina's Ponzi scheme victims.
"Obviously, Envy is going to be assisting and cooperating fully" to get not only his money back, but money back for the other victims.

D'Angelo says Envy invested $500K with Pina but "didn't get any money back."
"He paid out substantial sums similar to some of the other investors who thought they were getting money back."

D'Angelo wouldn't tell me if Envy has testified before a grand jury, but he's agreed to go on a YouTube live with me later this week. It's going to be great! I'll announce the day and time ASAP.
